My buddy Adam says that CHUM is still broadcasting an AM Stereo signal!
Is this true? Can anyone confirm the stereo stadis of this station?
IF so I'd love some airchecks of C Teronto Area AM Stereo stations as at one time, all Teronto stations were broadcasting in AM Stereo!
CFTR,k CHUM, Etc.
Thanks,
John
This is interesting. I dind't know any of them did. I can't get them over air anyway, just over the net. CHUM is back to oldies after the failure of the TEAM radio network, as you probably know.
I had a friend who picked up chum am 10 50 and he said it was a terrible signal. Minimal at best but not really good enough to listen too. He remembers that at least on cable fm that frequency was not transmitting in stereo. How popular is fm cable? I never subscribed to it when it was available back when I lived in Saxonburg but from the way it was described to me, it was an extension to some of the stations around the city and surrounding areas that could be hard to pull in at times. Also their coverage would now be expanded with the particular providing services a wide area besides Toronto. Years later closed to 95, they served the whole country there. Now most those cable fm stations are available on the digital box on the TV there in god's country Canaidia. Also 10 50 chum is a big fuckin gun. Do you know that from Montréal clear in to Calgary that frequency can be heard? I heard it sometimes in Sax. but they had one hell of a foot print. They've gotta be running more than just 50000 kilowatts. Probably add another zero for crying out loud. But like them C.B'ers say, "they're blowing smoke this way" check check."
